Reclaiming Our Government

In a democracy, government belongs to the people. We create and sustain it for our mutual protection and benefit.

We believe that the role of government in our economy is vital. Government is necessary to oversee the financial system and thereby ensure a level playing field; prevent fraud and abuse; cushion crashes and shocks; and protect the rights of all people. Through our government, we act directly to care for the young, the elderly and the disabled; to lift people out of poverty; and to clean our environment.

At the Horizon Institute, we believe that active and vigilant participation is required for our government to work. That is why our research and advocacy are conducted in partnership with community organizations, faith-based leaders, business leaders, environmental activists, the labor movement, and leading academics. Through the participation of revitalized and engaged communities, our government can be a force for positive change as well as stability.
